Review of the Trangia stove (+video)
In this article I review the Trangia stove. The Trangia stove is an alcoholstove which is very good to combine with the Bushbuddy stove or Solostove. It is a very small and lightweight stove for the average camper, bushcrafter and survivalist.
The stove burns on everything with an alcohol percentage of 60% or more like spiritis. Light it in the center and because of the heat, gas wil start vaporising out of the small dots on the side (2). The gas will automatically catch flame and start burning efficiently (blue flames).
Great to have on your side when you are in the forest and don’t want to cook on wood or when it rained and you don’t want to go through the trouble of drying your fire-material. As it is an alcoholstove you always have to carry an extra fuel-bottle with you.
The trangiastove does need an additional pot stand which will prevent the stove from extinguishing when something is put on top. A simple DIY pot stand is demonstrated in the added photos on the right. You can also buy many different pot stands online.
The trangia is a very cheap stove (about $15) and burnes for about 25 minutes on 1,7oz. / 50ml of alcohol.
It takes aproximatly 10 minutes to get 1 liter of water boiling. The extinguished cap can be used to control the power of fire.
